The Columbia Lake Stewardship Society (CLSS) is a community-based organization dedicated to preserving the ecological health of Columbia Lake and its surrounding natural environment in British Columbia. Its mission is to protect the lake’s water resources through stewardship, monitoring, and communication, helping residents and visitors support a healthy lake for generations to come. The society is led by directors who include local residents, business owners, and people with professional backgrounds in fields such as geology, meteorology, engineering, and nursing.

CLSS conducts and shares water quality and quantity work, including monitoring stream inflows, estimating groundwater flow, measuring lake levels and outflow, and developing information about the lake’s water balance. Its website provides reports, water records, regulations, dock and buoy guidance, watercraft counts, and freeze and thaw records. The society also offers education and outreach, publishes boating guidance, shares photographs of the lake and wetlands, and communicates updates with nearby communities. Residents can contribute through volunteering, events such as Cast for Conservation, donations, and the society’s endowment fund.
