Colymp is a software solution for calibrating and profiling printers using a digital camera instead of a separate measuring instrument. Designed for people who print their own photographs and want accurate, natural-looking colours, it creates ICC printer profiles that help correct colour differences caused by the printer, camera, ink, paper, or printing conditions.
The guided process involves printing a test chart containing more than 1,000 colour patches, photographing it—preferably in RAW format—and analysing the image in Colymp. The software compensates for exposure, lighting colour, and uneven illumination, then calculates and saves a printer profile. It supports a wide range of digital cameras, printers, and RAW formats, and is available for Windows and macOS.
On Windows, users can apply corrections through colymPrinterXPS, a virtual printer that works with images printed from ordinary applications. Alternatively, profiles can be exported for use with software such as Photoshop, PrintFab, or ColorSync on macOS. Colymp also offers colymProfiler for creating ICC-compatible profiles independently of colymPrinter.
