Combat Outdoor Training

Combat Outdoor Training is the personal training and education service of Oliver Solbach, whose experience in combat and survival training dates back to 1985. Drawing on long-standing interests in outdoor skills, martial arts and security, Oliver provides practical instruction for beginners and those with some prior experience. Training combines theory with hands-on exercises, with an emphasis on making complex subjects accessible and adapting challenges to participants’ abilities.

Offerings include self-defence courses for women and men, MMA, Ving-Tchun Kung Fu, weapons-defence training and personal-protection instruction. Outdoor and survival programmes cover navigation with maps, compasses and GPS; shelter and fire building; water collection and filtration; knots; tools and equipment; resource management; and preparation for crisis situations. The service also offers tailored crisis-planning advice, equipment recommendations and online lessons through platforms such as Teams or Discord. Scheduled events include survival training in the Nordeifel and a beginner self-defence course in Brühl. Combat Outdoor Training welcomes civilian participants as well as Bundeswehr reservists and people interested in the German armed forces.
