Humbras is an independent historical research website devoted to helping people investigate Spain’s Civil War and its aftermath through archival records and documentary resources. Centering the people behind the history, it supports searches for combatants, missing persons, relatives, and others connected to the conflict, with the aim of helping users reconstruct personal and family histories and contribute to historical memory.

The site brings together indexes and databases relating to Republican Army personnel, the navy, aviation, militias, medical services, military schools, rewards, ranks, and assignments. It also provides judicial proceeding lists from regional military tribunals, records from the Cause General, information on war hospitals, wartime press, mixed brigades, and documents and photographs. Practical search guides explain how to consult both the site’s own resources and external institutional archives, including databases that may not appear in ordinary search engine results. A dedicated search tool lets visitors look across the website, while biographical notes, abbreviations, and other reference material help interpret findings.
