About Consumers of Mental Health WA
Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is a consumer-led organization in Western Australia that aims to give a strong and independent voice to individuals with lived experience of mental health issues. Incorporated in 2005, CoMHWA works tirelessly to ensure that mental health consumers are respected, empowered, and connected to their community. Their vision is to create a world where individuals with mental health issues can take control of their lives and feel self-empowered.
CoMHWA strengthens and advances the voice, leadership, and expertise of mental health consumers through various programs and initiatives. They engage in systemic advocacy and reform, providing input and advice to government bodies and participating in committees and expert reference groups. CoMHWA also offers education and training programs for consumers, service providers, and the broader community, as well as research on consumer service needs.
They prioritize the growth of peer leadership and support and actively support the WA Peer Supporters' Network. By maintaining their independence and sustainability, CoMHWA continues to govern and advance the mental health community. They have a dedicated board and staff who work tirelessly to achieve their goals.
