Common Fields Appraisals LLC provides personal property appraisal services for individuals, corporations, and law firms. Established in 2002, the business prepares formal appraisals for probate and estate matters, tax, insurance, and bankruptcy, as well as informal valuations and consultations on property distribution. Its specialties span antiques and decorative arts, including silver, fountain pens, maps, glass, ceramics, pottery, and furniture from antique to contemporary. The firm also appraises antique, vintage, and modern watches and clocks; firearms and edged weapons; fine and high-quality costume jewelry from all eras; and fine art in all media and periods.

The company is owned by Julie Nicolai, a CAGA-certified personal property appraiser with more than twenty years of experience. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history from Washington University in St. Louis and is an Accredited Jewelry Professional through the Gemological Institute of America. Nicolai has written articles for historical and antiques organizations, teaches classes on antique topics, and conducts research.
