The Grand Hôtel de Bamako, a prominent venue in Mali, recently hosted a pivotal round table on May 9, 2023, focused on enhancing social and health development in the country. This event was part of a broader advocacy initiative aimed at mobilizing resources for the nationwide implementation of the Plan of Action for Comprehensive Health Services (PAGE). Facilitated by the Regional Practice Community, the gathering brought together key stakeholders from various organizations, including PNUD, USAID, and UNICEF, to discuss the integration of maternal, neonatal, and child health services with family planning and nutrition.
The integration efforts, previously piloted in districts like Kéniéba, yielded significant improvements in service uptake. With endorsements from influential participants, including health ministers and NGO leaders, the initiative underscores the urgent need for strategic investments and partnerships to achieve sustainable health outcomes. The event culminated in a commitment charter, signaling a collective determination to enhance the healthcare landscape in Mali and move towards universal health coverage aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
