COMMUNITAS is a brand project focused on empowering and engaging consumers in the energy sector. By harnessing the potential of Energy Communities (ECs), COMMUNITAS aims to drive the digitalization, decentralization, decarbonization, and democratization of the energy market. The project understands the importance of consumers and prosumers (consumers who also generate energy) and places them at the heart of energy markets.

Through rule-based automatic trading and reward mechanisms, COMMUNITAS ensures that all consumers, regardless of their expertise, can actively participate in the energy markets. Additionally, the project adopts information technologies such as IoT and Blockchain to enable citizens to interact with the energy markets and explore ancillary services. COMMUNITAS offers an innovative set of 12 solutions integrated into the user-friendly COMMUNITAS Core Platform, allowing EC members to have an aggregated position in the energy markets.

Through its diverse pilot sites, COMMUNITAS aims to accelerate the adoption of ECs across the EU, promoting energy citizenship and enabling citizens to play an active role in the energy transition. With the development of new business models, market roles, and frameworks, COMMUNITAS paves the way for a sustainable and consumer-driven energy future
