Community Language Support Services (CLSS) is a charity that helps people with limited English communicate with local organisations and access essential services. Based in Islington, it mainly supports Black minority ethnic and refugee communities, including people from East Africa and Arabic-speaking communities, across Islington and neighbouring London boroughs. CLSS provides advice, information and advocacy, through face-to-face support and outreach visits to clients’ homes.

It helps people navigate health services and education, and can refer them to specialist agencies for legal matters such as immigration. The charity is registered with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner to provide Level 1 advice and services on asylum and immigration, and holds the Advice Quality Standard. CLSS also runs gender-specific health-awareness workshops, designed to improve knowledge and access to services, encourage informed decision-making, and build supportive relationships.

Its work addresses immediate, medium- and long-term needs, with particular attention to wellbeing in health and social care and to reducing isolation and loneliness. The organisation is supported by funders and community partners
