About Communitywatchdoggh

Communitywatchdoggh is a trusted media house dedicated to providing essential information about local communities and community development in Ghana. Our mission is to serve as a watchdog for local issues, injustices, and misconduct, with a focus on the most vulnerable areas of the country, particularly the Volta region.

We report on local communities and their development by engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including civil society, government officials, businesses, and educators. Our stories feature insights from chiefs, school teachers, social entrepreneurs, civil servants, NGO employees, and expats. We deliver factual news, conduct interviews, publish guest blogs, foster opinion and discussion, and conduct investigative journalism that explores the pros and cons of different community development strategies.

Our motivation stems from the fact that many communities in Ghana lack essential social amenities such as schools, water, hospitals, and roads. Through our work, we raise awareness about these issues and provide a platform for discussing the best and worst practices in community development. We strongly believe that every community deserves a certain standard of living and are committed to facilitating positive change in underdeveloped regions.

Mark Sandow, a Ghanaian journalist born in Buipe, founded Communitywatchdoggh. As someone from a local community, he has firsthand experience of the challenges these communities face. Mark chose to study journalism to advocate for his country's local communities. After working for various media outlets, he recognized the gap in comprehensive news coverage for community development in local areas, as most news stations focused on urban issues. This realization led him to establish Communitywatchdoggh, aiming to promote positive change in underdeveloped regions.

To fund our activities, we rely on advertisements, paid guest blogs, and sponsorships. However, we prioritize maintaining our journalistic independence and unbiased reporting. We exercise careful scrutiny of guest bloggers and sponsored articles to ensure they align with our mission, vision, and journalistic standards. We strive for a clear delineation between journalism and commerce to maximize our social impact.

At Communitywatchdoggh, we are guided by principles of independence, integrity, and transparency. We prioritize truth-finding over political or economic interests. Our work is grounded in honest and careful reporting, with a commitment to justifying our methodologies. We staunchly adhere to copyrights and ethical sourcing, ensuring proper attribution and citation. Our commitment to truth-telling and fact-checking extends to scrutinizing information for distortion, lies, propaganda, disinformation, spin, and counter-spin. When in doubt, we conduct additional verification to uphold credibility.

In conclusion, Communitywatchdoggh is a leading media house dedicated to highlighting the challenges and successes of community development in Ghana. We aim to inform, inspire, and engage our audience in meaningful discussions about enhancing the lives of local communities.
