Compassio

Associação Compassio is a nonprofit organization based in Porto, Portugal, working to foster more compassionate communities. Its work focuses on caregiving, illness, ageing, social isolation and loneliness, dying, death, and grief, guided by the values of compassion and beauty. The association aims to help communities develop a more open, supportive culture around serious illness, loss, and bereavement.

Compassio offers activities for people experiencing grief and works to activate community networks that support people living with serious or chronic illness and isolation. It also provides training and capacity-building for caregivers, organizations, and communities, encouraging compassionate approaches to care and greater acceptance of death and grief as part of life. Its initiatives include the #Emlutocontigo project, community activities, and the Festival Luto. Compassio also offers services for organizations and invites people to support its work through donations, participation, and membership. Through these efforts, the association seeks to build a society that is more compassionate, supportive, and connected.
