Compassionate Transitions

Compassionate Transitions provides emotional support and practical guidance to pet families in the Monticello, Illinois area as they navigate end-of-life decisions and pet loss. Founded by Kara, the service complements veterinary care: while a veterinarian oversees a pet’s medical needs, Kara helps families understand their options, process difficult feelings, and make decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

Support is available at different stages of the journey, including after a diagnosis, when assessing a pet’s quality of life, while considering hospice or end-of-life care, as families prepare to say goodbye, and during bereavement. Consultations offer a space to discuss concerns, explore possible next steps, and create a plan that honors both the pet and the bond they share with their family. Compassionate Transitions recognizes that uncertainty, fear, guilt, and grief can make this period feel isolating, and aims to help clients feel heard and less alone. Families can book pet loss or end-of-life and hospice consultations, or submit a general inquiry.
