Compeer

Compeer is a free iOS app that helps people understand how accessible a location may be before they visit. Built around the idea of “making life accessible, one building at a time,” it lets users search for specific places or browse nearby locations, such as coffee shops, and read community reviews. Users can also submit ratings based on personal experience, sharing details such as wide aisles, Braille menus, or distraction-reduced environments. Reviews are intended to help others make informed decisions, while the app keeps personal information private: only a user’s chosen username is visible.

Compeer is designed to accommodate different access needs. Users can filter reviews by cognitive, hearing, motor, or vision accessibility, adjust text size, and use features including VoiceOver support, increased contrast, and reduced motion. The app also adapts its layout to larger text settings. Compeer invites users to share feedback about accessibility features it does not yet support and offers opportunities to join its beta-testing community or subscribe to a monthly newsletter.
