The International Compositae Alliance (TICA) serves as an essential global network for scientists dedicated to studying the Compositae (Asteraceae) family, one of the largest vascular plant families on Earth. Founded by the visionary Vicki Funk in the early 21st century, TICA aims to deepen understanding of this diverse plant group, which comprises roughly 24,000 to 30,000 accepted species across approximately 1,600–1,700 genera worldwide, excluding Antarctica.

TICA fosters collaboration through initiatives like TICA Talks, a platform for synantherologists to share insights and research, and the recently revamped CAPITULUM, a peer-reviewed publication that embraces diversity in academic contributions. Another notable project is the Global Compositae Database, an extensive repository of curated taxonomic names for the Compositae family, developed with the assistance of international taxonomic experts.
