Compromiso de Caspe

The Commemoration of the Compromise of Caspe is an annual cultural and historical event organized by the City Council of Caspe, in Zaragoza, with coordination from HPLab, a University of Zaragoza spin-off focused on history, heritage, and development. Recognized as a Festival of Tourist Interest of Aragón since 2004, it brings the events of 1412 to life, when nine representatives peacefully chose the successor to the Crown of Aragon. Its program combines historically informed reenactments, theatre, education, food, and community participation.

The 2026 edition, held from June 26 to 28, features a dramatic reenactment of the royal election, a medieval market with traditional crafts, theatrical performances and guided routes, and a reenactor camp offering demonstrations and activities for children. Visitors can also enjoy taverns, a Sephardic cuisine competition, fire processions, and seasonal traditions. The event’s website provides historical background, news, program details, and an AI-based assistant for questions about the Compromise and its commemoration. It also highlights the volunteers, associations, and local supporters who help make the celebration possible.
