ComptonJrEquestrians

Compton Junior Equestrians (CJE), presented by the Compton Cowboys, is a nonprofit equestrian and youth development program based in Compton, California. It serves young people ages 8 to 18, using horses and ranch-based activities to support personal growth, confidence, wellness, leadership, and life skills. CJE aims to help urban youth develop a strong sense of self, build new skills, and imagine future opportunities.

Its offerings include Basic Equine Programs, English and Western riding programs, and Clinical Services Programs. Youth can also take part in after-school sessions, summer camps, and field trips for schools and organizations. Activities combine horsemanship and riding instruction with horse care, homework support, organic gardening, and self-development workshops. No previous horse experience is required; participants learn safety and handling fundamentals, and equipment is provided.

CJE offers year-round programming and welcomes community support through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, and team opportunities. Contributions help care for horses, maintain facilities, and provide equipment and program materials, supporting access for local youth.
