ComputerBirding is an online bird-identification game for people who want to learn about European bird species through photographs and films. The site features 4,315 photos and 105 short films covering 612 species, including occasional visitors. Users can choose from 13 language options, including German, several varieties of English, scientific naming systems, and a range of European languages.
The game offers different ways to practise. Levels 1–3 focus on 188 common bird species, while levels 3–6 introduce all 612 species and become more challenging as players progress. These advanced levels include an option with a species selection to guide the quiz, as well as a mode that requires players to enter answers using the keyboard without a selection list. Users can build their own species list and collect birds as they play. The site also provides 3,127 large-format photos, 105 short films, a mobile-friendly design, and information and help pages. ComputerBirding combines visual learning and quiz-based practice for bird enthusiasts.
