COMRED is a brand that supports thriving communities and coastal cities along the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region. Their mission is to conserve marine life and create strong, long-lasting livelihoods in collaboration with communities and cities in the area. With a focus on the Shimoni-Vanga Ecosystem and Malindi Ungwana bay, COMRED works with partners and associations to deliver impactful solutions for coastal communities and cities, while also conserving coastal and marine environments.

Their work includes projects in thriving communities, fisheries management, eco-credit and livelihood programs, leadership and governance, and smart and sustainable cities. In these areas, they aim to address challenges such as poverty, spatial planning, resource governance, and climate change. Through their programs, they enable women to better manage marine resources, promote climate action, and restore mangroves.

Despite the region's significance in marine ecosystems, it remains underdeveloped. COMRED seeks to turn the tide and make a positive impact on coastal communities and marine environments in the WIO region
