ConARTz

ConARTz is an art platform and exhibition space dedicated to contemporary stone sculpture from Zimbabwe, especially works associated with the Shona art tradition. Founded around the long-standing commitment of artist and curator Kristin Diehl, it presents handmade sculptures by established and emerging Zimbabwean artists, including Itai Nyama, Kudzanai Dambaza, Eddie Masaya, Perlagia Mutjavaviri, Gideon Gomo and Victor Nyakauro. The collection features works carved from stones such as serpentine, marble, verdite and granite.

ConARTz shares information about the artists, the history of Zimbabwean stone sculpture, and the materials and hand-carving techniques involved. Since 1989, Diehl has supported Zimbabwean sculptors and schools, organized competitions, and exhibited artists’ work at venues in Germany, including the ConARTz art hall in Niederroth. The platform also highlights exhibitions, press coverage and past events, and has organized charity auctions to benefit sculptors and, where proceeds allow, schools in Zimbabwe.
