Confident Swimming is an adult swimming school based in Oxford, led by Tim, a specialist instructor with more than 17 years of full-time teaching experience. It focuses on helping adults of all ages, particularly beginners and people who feel nervous in the water, develop confidence, comfort, and practical swimming skills. Lessons are offered one-to-one at the heated pool at voco Oxford Thames Hotel, in a calm setting with a private lane and learning area. Bookings can be arranged weekly or on an ad-hoc basis, and Tim stays in the water with each learner.

The teaching approach builds from essential foundations, including breath control, buoyancy, posture, relaxation, and safe recovery to standing. Learners then develop adaptable movement in the water, such as floating, treading water, changing position, and swimming with the head above or below water. Stroke instruction covers front crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke, with advanced skills such as flip turns also available. Confident Swimming additionally provides a free six-lesson online Foundations course, online coaching, swimming retreats, and teacher training.
