Confraria do Vinho Verde is an organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting Vinho Verde and the heritage of its demarcated region. It supports the study and dissemination of work about the wine, while highlighting the area’s history, traditions, gastronomy, wine tourism and folklore. Guided by the motto “For Vinho Verde, for the confraternity, for the members,” the organization brings together confrades, including wine producers, and holds ceremonies, commemorative gatherings and other events that recognize the wine and its community.
Its activities include formal inductions, regional meetings and initiatives such as the “Os Melhores Verdes” competition, in which members have received awards. The confraternity also shares publications, including a book marking its 30th anniversary and reflecting on its service to the region. Its website provides information about the organization’s history, objectives, governance, statutes, events and members who produce wine, alongside useful contacts and resources related to the Vinho Verde wine routes. Through these efforts, Confraria do Vinho Verde promotes appreciation of the wine and the cultural heritage connected to it.
