Connected Histories is a pioneering project aimed at enhancing access to early modern and 19th-century British history resources. Developed through collaborations between the University of Hertfordshire, the University of London, and the University of Sheffield, this platform provides an integrated search facility, allowing users to interrogate a variety of electronic resources efficiently. Instead of generating new content, Connected Histories focuses on creating indexes from existing materials, employing natural language processing techniques to extract critical information like names, places, and dates from various texts, including databases and newspapers.

Maintained by the Digital Humanities Institute, the project serves as a valuable tool for researchers and educators in British history, offering free access to many resources, while some subscription-based materials can be previewed. As a not-for-profit initiative, Connected Histories relies on advertising revenue to sustain its operations, ensuring continued support for users seeking to deepen their understanding of historical contexts.
