About CONSERVATION DOGS OF HAWAII
Conservation Dogs of Hawai‘i works to restore and protect wildlife and ecosystems across the Hawaiian archipelago. The organization responds to the region’s critical rate of species extinction by using dogs’ exceptional sense of smell to support conservation efforts and help facilitate the recovery of ecosystems and wildlife. Its work brings people and dogs together to address threats affecting Hawaii’s natural environments.
The organization’s projects include efforts focused on devil weed, seabirds, coconut rhinoceros beetles, biosecurity and remote islands, and little fire ants. Past projects have addressed avian botulism, melon fly, and rosy wolfsnail. Conservation Dogs of Hawai‘i also provides educational opportunities, including a K9 Conservationists online course and workshops, and invites people to volunteer or collaborate.
Supporters can contribute through online donations and a wish list, follow the organization’s news and events, or shop its online store for T-shirts, tank tops, stickers, and other non-apparel items. Through conservation projects, education, and community engagement, Conservation Dogs of Hawai‘i applies canine detection abilities to the protection of the archipelago’s wildlife and ecosystems.
