About Consumer Affairs
The Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Government of India, is dedicated to empowering and protecting consumers. They have launched the Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism (INGRAM) to address consumer grievances and act as a central registry for lodging complaints. While every effort is made to resolve the grievances, it may not always be possible to fully satisfy all concerns.
INGRAM brings together various stakeholders, including consumers, government agencies, private companies, regulators, and call centers, onto a single platform. This integrated portal serves as an alternate dispute redressal mechanism. In case a consumer is not satisfied with the resolution, they can approach the appropriate Consumer Commission.
Consumers can register their grievances online through the INGRAM portal. The portal also offers valuable consumer awareness material, including information on consumer rights, consumer commissions, and the Consumer Protection Act. Additionally, it provides links to important resources and standards for consumer products.
Grievances received through the portal are forwarded to the relevant company, agency, regulator, or ombudsman for quick resolution. Consumers can track the status of their grievances through the portal. Although the Department of Consumer Affairs makes every effort to address grievances, if a consumer is not fully satisfied, they have the option to approach the appropriate consumer commission.
The redressal process may take up to 45 days to reach a logical conclusion. For further inquiries, the contact person at the Department of Consumer Affairs is the Director (PG). Overall, this portal aims to raise consumer awareness, protect consumer rights, and provide a platform for resolving grievances effectively
