Our journey began in 2016 when we created a Portus Powered Container Registry Service to meet our own needs. We were building a new microservice-based software stack and struggled to find a Docker Registry suitable for teams.

Docker Hub, though popular, lacked the necessary features. That's when we discovered Portus, an open-source Container Registry built specifically for teams and organizations. This led us to migrate to a SaaS model, allowing us to not only build and operate SaaS but also learn about selling and promoting it.

As the industry evolves, Container Registries have become a common commodity. However, there are still segments that require specialized solutions.
