Contango Goldens is an ethical Golden Retriever breeder based in Sonoma County, California, raising puppies on a family farm in the hills of Petaluma. Founded by Annette, the breeding program reflects more than 15 years of experience and a commitment to health, temperament, and individual care. The adult dogs are family members, and litters are limited so each puppy can receive attentive handling and socialization.
Contango’s adult dogs are AKC registered and undergo health evaluations, including OFA certifications for hips, elbows, heart, and eyes, as well as DNA testing and PennHIP assessment. Puppies receive veterinary examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, health records, and early exposure to people, sounds, and varied surfaces. Crate and potty training and microchipping are also included.
The breeder offers available puppies and a thoughtful placement process to help match them with suitable homes. Puppies grow up around family life, cats, goats, and outdoor surroundings, supporting their development as confident companions. Contango Goldens also provides ongoing guidance and support to families after their puppies go home.
