Contractor Search is a national directory designed to help people find and verify contractors using public licensing and registration records. It features more than 321,000 profiles, searchable by trade, state, and city, across fields including general contracting, electrical work, painting, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, landscaping, and concrete. Each profile links to its public source and displays the recorded status, with newer observations available where provided, so users can check details before contacting a business directly.

The directory also offers browsing by popular cities and practical resources for the hiring process. Homeowners can use a bid-comparison worksheet, questions guide, and budget planner to evaluate options and prepare for discussions with contractors. Searching and contacting businesses is free, and the service states that it does not sell leads or charge homeowners. Contractors can claim their profiles or request corrections to details such as phone numbers, license status, websites, and descriptions at no cost; claim requests are verified before public information changes.
