It connects to checking accounts, savings accounts and cards through Plaid, then calculates a live “Left-to-Spend” figure by accounting for money set aside in buckets and pending charges. Users can create buckets for bills, everyday spending, savings goals and card payments, and set funding schedules that fill them when a paycheck arrives.

Copper also offers round-ups for savings goals, automatic transaction assignment rules, shared budgets for partners or families, and tools to identify recurring and annual bills. Heads-up alerts warn when bills may arrive before payday, while price-hike notifications flag increases in recurring charges. The service is available on iPhone and the web, with budgets synced across both. Copper says it does not hold or move users’ money; funds remain at their bank. Bank connections are handled through Plaid, and the company states that it does not sell or share data for advertising.
