Established in 2010, SDI LaFarga COPPERWORKS™ is the only company in the U.S. that uses state-of-the-art technology to reclaim processed copper, refine it and create new, high-quality copper products for customers from a variety of industries. From our facility in New Haven, Indiana, we manufacture rod, drawn solid wire and can welding wire. Because COPPERWORKS uses secondary copper to make new copper products, our unique process has a significantly lower environmental impact. SDI LaFarga Copperworks is a copper rod and wire producer formed through a joint venture between LaFarga Group and Steel Dynamics. With a focused approach to copper manufacturing, the company uses a proprietary, energy-efficient process to reclaim and refine processed copper into Fire-Refined, High-Conductivity (FRHC) products. Its range also includes Electrolytic Tough Pitch (ETP) copper rod, added in 2020.
Products include Advantage™ FRHC copper rod for power cables, building wire and other electrical applications; Elemental™ ETP copper rod, a widely used grade for electrical uses; Infinity™ copper rod; drawn solid wire; and can welding wire for the canned-goods industry. Drawn wire is made with a smooth, clean surface and meets ASTM B1, B2 and B3 requirements.
The company also provides on-site engineering services to help customers improve process efficiency and manage costs. Its team offers flexible shipping options to support customer needs and lean inventories.
