Hudbay's Copper World project is an innovative open-pit copper mining operation located near Tucson, Arizona, that aims to meet the growing demand for domestic copper while prioritizing environmental sustainability. Situated in the northern Santa Rita Mountains, Copper World is designed to produce both copper and molybdenum concentrates, with plans to expand into finished copper cathodes and silver/gold doré within five years of operations.

The project is projected to generate approximately 85,000 metric tons of copper per year during its initial phase, predominantly selling its high-grade copper directly to U.S. customers. This approach not only ensures a reliable domestic supply but also significantly reduces carbon emissions by eliminating the need for overseas transportation and processing.

Hudbay's substantial investment of $1.7 billion is expected to create over 400 direct and up to 3,000 indirect jobs while contributing millions in tax revenue to the local economy.
