The ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, also known as Our Legacy, was dedicated to advancing knowledge and promoting the sustainable use, effective management, and adaptive governance of coral reefs worldwide. Through cutting-edge research and collaborative efforts, Our Legacy gained a profound understanding of the social and natural sciences behind the dynamic changes occurring on coral reefs. With the support of the Australian Research Council, Our Legacy became Australia's leading contributor to coral reef sciences, establishing strong collaborative links with numerous institutions globally.
Over its operational years from 2005 to 2022, the centre achieved significant milestones, including the training of 126 HDR students, mentoring programs, and the publication of 4670 research papers. By communicating and implementing scientific recommendations, Our Legacy aimed to enhance human well-being by safeguarding the world's coral reefs. Although their journey has ended, their legacy will continue to inspire and inform future endeavors in coral reef conservation.
