Corals is a pioneering initiative known as the Childhood Obesity Risk Assessment Longitudinal Study (CORALS), which sets the standard for multi-centered, prospective research aimed at understanding childhood obesity. Targeting children aged 3 to 6 years, CORALS seeks to collect annual data over an average span of 10 years, thereby identifying critical risk factors associated with childhood obesity. Acknowledged as a significant health concern by the World Health Organization, childhood obesity has become a priority within global action plans.
With collaboration from leading research groups in cities like Barcelona, Córdoba, and Valencia, CORALS assembles teams of experts, including Dr. Mercedes Gil from the University of Córdoba and Dr. Nancy Babio from Universitat Rovira i Virgili. This innovative study aims to form a deeper understanding of how lifestyle choices, including adherence to the Mediterranean diet, impact children's health.
By illuminating the causes of obesity in young children, Corals is committed to fostering healthier generations through systemic research and community engagement. For inquiries, please contact [email protected].
