CORESTA, the Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco, was established in 1956 and operates under French law. With 171 Full Members from over 42 countries, including companies, institutes, and laboratories, CORESTA plays a pivotal role in the tobacco research community.

Membership encompasses various fields such as agronomy, phytopathology, manufacturing, and chemistry, ensuring a comprehensive approach to tobacco science. The organization facilitates cooperation through 26 active working groups and hosts annual meetings where members present scientific papers and research findings.
