About Cork Folklore
The Cork Folklore Project is a community-based non-profit organization that was established in 1996 in collaboration with the Department of Folklore and Ethnology at UCC and Northside Community Enterprises. Their mission is to digitally record and preserve stories and memories from the people of Cork. With over 1,000 hours of recordings, their collection covers a wide range of subjects including working life, leisure, social change, health, childhood, and everyday life.
The Cork Folklore Project is highly regarded both nationally and internationally for their exceptional standard of folklore collection and dissemination. Their full audio collection is accessible to the public and researchers by appointment. Additionally, a significant portion of their material can be explored through their Online Catalogue, Memory Map, Journal, and Media sections on their website.
