Cornwall Karate

Cornwall Karate is an independent karate school serving Penzance and the wider Penwith area of Cornwall. With 20 years of teaching experience, it welcomes children, adults and families, including students with additional needs and disabilities. Its friendly, safety-focused classes are tailored to students’ ages and experience, and centre on practical self-defence taught in the traditional spirit of the art.

Training covers striking, grappling, locks, throws, and standing and ground techniques. Students also learn non-physical skills to help them avoid danger or de-escalate confrontations. Sporting karate is available for those interested in competition, alongside training that supports fitness, confidence, concentration and general wellbeing. The school also holds karate-based and social events, and provides members with learning resources.

Group classes take place on Thursday and Friday evenings at Penzance Leisure Centre. One-to-one and small-group tuition may be arranged at another venue. New students can try a free group class before committing. Cornwall Karate describes itself as independent but connected to clubs and instructors locally and nationally, with regular shared training to support ongoing development.
