The Associazione Culturale Corpo di Guardia di Gradara is a cultural association dedicated to bringing the military and everyday life of the fifteenth century to life. Based mainly in the medieval village of Gradara, it recreates a company of Malatesta men-at-arms and develops educational activities, animations and performances grounded in research into historical images and written sources. Its work focuses on historical accuracy and explores the period between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

The association’s activities include medieval fencing, historical archery, camp life, medieval cooking, a medieval market, artillery and portrayals of a merchant’s home. It also presents the short film “Sotto assedio” and stages the story of the 1446 siege of Gradara, when forces associated with Francesco Sforza and Federico da Montefeltro besieged the Malatesta stronghold. The Corpo di Guardia takes part in events in Italy and abroad, collaborating with historical groups, institutions and associations. Its programme has included events at Gradara Castle and the Palio del Daino in Mondaino, sharing an engaging, research-based interpretation of fifteenth-century history with visitors.
