Cortext is a research infrastructure serving the social sciences and humanities, with roots in Science, Technology and Society studies and traditions of co-word and social network analysis. Its mission is to help researchers address complex questions using qualitative-quantitative mixed methods, combining computational approaches with attention to the context and reflexivity needed to study human societies. Cortext also supports government and civil society actors. Launched in 2008 by the French institute IFRIS, it is hosted by the LISIS research unit at Gustave Eiffel University and receives ongoing support from INRAE and CNRS.

Its main service, Cortext Manager, is a publicly available web application for analyzing textual datasets and related metadata, including authors, categories, citations, locations and dates. Its tools cover text processing, entity recognition, social and semantic network analysis, topic and document clustering, geospatial visualization and distant reading. The team also provides documentation, tutorials and workshops to help users apply these methods. Cortext showcases projects and publications that use its instruments, while sharing news about training sessions, seminars and research activities.
