About COSAFA
COSAFA, the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations, is an organization established by the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa – Zone 6. It brings together 14 nations of Southern Africa with the aim of developing football in the region. This includes not only the playing aspect but also the improvement of referees and the game's administration.
Founded in 1983 in Malawi, COSAFA's 14 member countries include Angola, Botswana, Comores, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with an associate member being Reunion. The organization is currently led by its President, Artur de Almeida e Silva from Angola, and its Executive Director, Sue Destombes. COSAFA organizes a range of competitions for men and women in different age groups, along with a Beach Soccer tournament and Women's Champions League.
Their flagship event, the COSAFA Cup, is considered one of the best regional football competitions in the world
