CouncilNotes is a civic information service from SlabTech LLC that makes Rhode Island local-government records easier to find and understand. Residents can search council votes, ordinances, meeting records, and other public documents, or ask questions in plain English and receive answers that cite the source record for verification. The site also offers classic search and town-specific pages with upcoming meetings, recent decisions, and recorded votes.

CouncilNotes is currently fully searchable for Middletown, Newport, and Portsmouth, with additional Rhode Island cities and towns listed as coming soon. Its collection includes thousands of documents and recorded votes covering 2024–2026, alongside campaign finance filings dating back to 2002. Users can choose their town to see relevant local information and sign up for email updates about meetings, decisions, and upcoming agendas. The service says its updates are limited to selected towns, does not sell email addresses, and allows subscribers to stop receiving messages at any time.
