About Cdn Council Churches
The Canadian Council of Churches was established in 1944 as a response to the yearning of Christians in Canada to come together. It started with ten original members and has now grown to include 26 member churches, representing nearly all Christian traditions and 85 percent of Christians in Canada. The Council serves as a place of common ground where Christians from different traditions can unite and work towards unity and peace.
They respond to Christ's call by seeking truth in a diverse environment and acting with love through prayer, dialogue, and witness to the gospel. Despite the evolving challenges faced by today's churches, such as declining membership and the need for reconciliation with Indigenous people, the Canadian Council of Churches remains a hub where Christians in Canada can gather to discuss their shared calling and collaborate for the common good
