Council on Aging

The Council on Aging, Windsor-Essex County, is a nonprofit, senior-driven community organization and part of Ontario’s provincial network of Councils on Aging. Founded by community-minded residents, it works to strengthen communication among people and organizations concerned with aging and the needs of local seniors. Its community development projects aim to make Windsor-Essex County more enjoyable for older residents and encourage their involvement in local initiatives.

The Council coordinates events, both in person and virtual, to build awareness and support senior-focused initiatives. Its education and training activities include public education, falls prevention, and age-friendly training. Through its At Home With Seniors program, it provides information and education to help people stay in their homes longer. The organization also develops assessment tools and uses focus groups to explore issues affecting local and provincial development. Seniors can submit questions for the Council’s newsletter column, and the organization shares educational resources and provincial news. Volunteers help support its local work, while donations, sponsorships, and grants contribute to its programs and activities.
