CountyScore is a free county-comparison and rankings platform designed to help people make more informed decisions about where to live in the United States. It evaluates all 3,144 U.S. counties using public government data, presenting composite scores and rankings across quality-of-life factors such as property taxes, cost of living, income, crime and safety, health, schools, disaster risk, water quality, and climate.

Visitors can search for counties, explore an interactive map with 10 data layers, browse national and state rankings, or take a quiz to identify counties that fit their priorities. The comparison tool puts counties side by side across key measures, while individual county reports provide score breakdowns and selected local statistics. CountyScore explains its scoring approach: raw figures are converted to percentile scores, then combined into a weighted average, with higher scores indicating better performance. The site says its data comes from free public sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, CDC, FEMA, Department of Education, and EPA.
