Jose Ramon Palanco

José Ramón Palanco is a cybersecurity researcher and entrepreneur whose work spans security research, product development, and DevSecOps. Active in the field since 2002, he focuses on offensive security, reverse engineering, threat intelligence, application security, hardware hacking, and IoT and operational technology security. Palanco is the founder and CEO/CTO of Plexicus, an application security company, where he leads work in this area.

His career includes research and development roles at Ericsson and Optenet, as well as building Drainware, a cloud-based data loss prevention platform later released as open source. In 2014, he founded Dinoflux, a threat intelligence company that generated intelligence from malware and distributed it to security systems including IDS, firewalls, IPS, and SIEM platforms. Telefónica acquired Dinoflux in 2018, after which Palanco joined its cybersecurity unit, ElevenPaths.
