About CO:WORX
Coworx is a transformative and sustainable brand that aims to contribute to the economic and social development of Edgeworthstown and its surrounding areas. It began as a project to convert the former Ulster Bank building, a protected heritage structure, into a co-working hub. The project was spearheaded by the Edgeworthstown District Development Association and successfully purchased by Longford County Council.
In addition to the revitalization of the original structure, a contemporary Development Centre and green space were added to address the community's needs. Coworx is not only focused on physical infrastructure but also on digital transformation. They have created a digital working hub that fosters collaboration, remote working, and reskilling projects.
These include digital literacy programs, English language classes, and the adoption of digital technologies by small and medium-sized enterprises. The brand has gained recognition for its initiatives, including being named the winner of the 2021 Digital Town - Medium Town award. Coworx was also a finalist in the Innovation in Politics Awards 2021 for its contribution to Longford County Council's Rural Working Hub Strategy.
At Coworx, a dedicated team, including Luiz Roque and Bernie Lynch, ensures the smooth operation of the hub and provides customer support. The project has been made possible with the support and assistance of various funders, including Longford Local Community Development Committee, Longford Community Resources CLG, and Longford County Council. Coworx is also part of a growing network of hubs nationwide, allowing members to connect, share knowledge, and benefit from a diverse skills base
