The Portuguese Club of the Transmontano Livestock Guardian Dog (CPCGT) is an organization dedicated to promoting and sharing information about the Cão de Gado Transmontano, an indigenous Portuguese breed originating mainly in northeastern Trás-os-Montes. The site introduces the breed’s history, characteristics and official standard, and explains its traditional role in protecting sheep and goat flocks from wolves. It describes the dog as large, robust and rustic, yet calm, gentle and reserved, with a build and temperament suited to its working role and local terrain.

CPCGT provides resources for breed enthusiasts, owners and breeders, including guidance on breeding, information for dog owners, an ethics code and material about hip dysplasia and its control program. Visitors can learn about the club’s structure, statutes and regulations, apply for membership, pay dues or make a donation. The club also shares litter and kennel information, articles and news, and organizes breed shows, competitions and other activities.
