About Centre for Policy Alternatives Sri Lanka
The Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) is a pivotal organization founded with the mission to enhance institutional capacity and promote good governance in Sri Lanka. Understanding the crucial role that non-partisan civil society groups play in conflict transformation, CPA actively engages in researching, advocating, and implementing policy alternatives to foster democratic governance and non-violent conflict resolution. The Centre’s comprehensive programs include capacity-building initiatives with local governments, public interest litigation addressing fundamental rights and electoral democracy, and civic media efforts that amplify marginalized voices.
Furthermore, CPA conducts extensive research that informs public policy through the Social Indicator Unit, which surveys public perceptions on governance. By committing to a vision of peace and human rights, CPA critiques existing policies and champions alternatives that align with the aspirations of the Sri Lankan populace. Through its multifaceted approach, the Centre aims to create a framework for social justice, accountability, and improved governance across the nation
