The California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN) is at the forefront of advocating for health equity and racial justice in California. CPEHN is spearheading efforts to address the root causes of health inequities and racial injustices by establishing the Health Equity and Racial Justice (HE&RJ) Fund. This fund aims to direct resources to communities that have long-standing health inequities, particularly among communities of color, LGBTQ individuals, and low-income residents.
The proposal for the HE&RJ Fund is supported by a coalition of organizations dedicated to promoting health equity and racial justice. The fund seeks to transform community conditions and institutional/government systems, reduce specific health and social disparities, and promote systems and governance changes that advance racial justice. Additionally, the fund will support rigorous evaluation of funded initiatives to ensure that outcomes promote health equity and racial justice. Community-based organizations, clinics, and tribal organizations will be eligible for funding to address health disparities and promote racial justice at the local level.
