CPE Plumeau Soleil

Centre de la Petite Enfance Plumeau-Soleil is a nonprofit early childhood centre in Drummondville, Quebec, established in 1987 in collaboration with Cégep de Drummondville. It provides educational childcare focused on children’s well-being, health, safety, and development. The centre now offers 80 places, including 20 for infants, at its installation on avenue des Pères Montfortains; it also describes a second installation, La Ribambelle, developed in 2015 at the Cégep. Priority is given to children of Cégep students and staff.

Plumeau-Soleil’s educational approach recognizes play as central to learning and encourages active exploration in a supportive environment. Educators use observation to guide children’s development, while regular communication and collaboration help build relationships with families. Services and facilities include age-appropriate outdoor play areas, such as play structures and sandboxes, as well as a dedicated riding area for bicycles and wheeled toys. The centre is governed as an autonomous nonprofit corporation, with parents, a Cégep representative, and a staff member represented on its board.
