The Canadian Political Science Association (CPSA) is a national organization that facilitates and promotes the study of politics and government in Canada. Active since 1912 and incorporated in 1971, it connects students, researchers, journalists, practitioners, teachers, and others interested in political science with one another and with international resources. Its activities support professional exchange, research, teaching, and public engagement across the discipline.
The CPSA organizes an annual conference, including its 2027 meeting at the University of British Columbia, and supports the Canadian Journal of Political Science. It offers prizes recognizing research, teaching, and contributions to the field, and provides resources such as Indigenous content syllabus materials for instructors. Members can take part in caucuses, including the Women’s Caucus, which promotes equal opportunities, mentoring, networking, and greater visibility for women in political science. The association also administers the Ontario Legislature Internship Programme and has worked on arrangements for the Parliamentary Internship Programme.
