The Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT) is a Brazilian pastoral and social organization serving rural communities and peoples who live by and depend on the land and waters. It describes its work as supportive, prophetic, ecumenical, fraternal, and educational, with the aim of strengthening communities’ leadership and ability to shape their own futures. CPT documents and analyzes rural conflicts, violence, and human rights concerns, publishing information through its annual Conflitos no Campo Brasil report and related historical records.
Its work also includes campaigns addressing violence in rural areas and contemporary slavery, as well as initiatives focused on the Amazon, Cerrado, land, and climate. The organization shares news, research, publications, and archival resources, and connects communities through regional networks and partnerships. People can support CPT through donations, volunteering, contributions of content, subscriptions to its newspaper, and purchases from its online shop.
